Did Bing just crossed a new hurdle by beating Yahoo! ??
It seems so, according to the blog of StatCounter Bing outsmarted yahoo in the market share of the searches.
There analysis shows that Bing overtook Yahoo in the US to take second place on 16.28%, Yahoo! has 10.22%. Google still commands the US search engine market with 71.47% of the total searches made.
This may be because Microsoft is forcing Bing as the default search engine in Internet Explorer 6 or because it’s just launched and people are just having a look at it or may be people really liked Bing.
Whatever may be the reason Microsoft just doesn’t wants to loose the competition in search engine category and is therefore spending huge money (somewhere around $100 million)to advertise Bing to large audience (of course it’s using adsense).
Here is a graph form StatCounter which shows the details about searches made worldwide and the share of each search engine.
